I work primarily as a painter and I love to work on location, enabling me to capture a moment in time. I like selling my work direct to the public through open studios and my own exhibitions so I can meet the people who enjoy my work, I occasionally sell through galleries. I like to run a variety of workshops at home or in other venues, and demonstrate to art groups. The sea tends to be the main focus for my paintings but living in Whitby gives me a wonderful choice of subjects! My creativity extends in to my house and garden. I am always creating something, my students and b and b guests enjoy my eclectic way of life!

A selection of my work is made in to limited edition prints, and I have a big collection of greeting cards which are very popular - I make most of the cards myself and the images are printed with high quality inks.

You can sign up to my mail list for occasional mailings about exhibitions and workshops

The paintings arrived this morning and they are just perfect. Thank you very much.

Thanks for an enjoyable day. I picked up plenty of good tips regarding colour mixing and enjoyed trying to paint the waves.

We are the proud owners of a print of Hilary’s sketchbook paintings: ‘A trip through New York on Gulliver of Southampton.’ It is great – we love its colours, fomat, writing, sense of presence and adventure in a captured place and time.
