Marine and Landscape Paintings

I mostly paint on location. The paintings are worked quickly in acrylic using palette knives, fingers and brushes. The spontaneity of the work captures the essence of the moment and I extract just enough information to make the painting something you can recognise, yet catch the mood, activity, and the sounds.

My recent studio paintings are different to my location paintings, perhaps taking a detail of something that I have observed whilst out and about. I am interested in using and generating the same emotions and energy I feel when I am out painting, but without an external image on which to focus. This has also lead me to paint some purely abstract work and I am curious about their connection with my paintings on location… watch this space!
