Marine and Landscape Paintings
All my paintings are done on location and usually in one session. I use acrylic paint on a heavy water colour paper. My work is about capturing the essence of something I see, I walk round like a camera taking mental snapshots of views around me until something just sings out. The paintings are worked quickly using palette knives, fingers and occasionally brushes! Whilst the subjects are recognisable, the spontaneity of the work captures the essence of the moment. I extract just enough information to make the painting something you can recognise, yet painting in such a way as I can catch the mood, the activity, the sounds.
