I paint mostly out doors on location, also known as plein air painting and I am particularly inspired by the sea in all forms, capturing its atmosphere and vibrancy. Each painting is a one off piece. I work mainly in acrylics, quickly mixing the constantly changing colours of my chosen scene. I often use a palette knife to paint, though brushes and fingers do come in to the equasion. I love getting feedback on how my work imparts my experience.
I paint mostly around the area I live, Whitby. But I have done a fair amount of travelling to paint including the West coast of Scotland, Italy, Bermuda and on the East coast of the United States. On my travels I love working in sketchbooks with pen and watercolour and I produce limited edition prints from a selection of these.
